H.E.A.R.T.H. Home Repair Program
H.E.A.R.T.H. (Hearts Energized and Ready to Help) is a volunteer driven home repair program developed by the City of McKinney and Volunteer McKinney Center. The mission of the program is to lend a hand to homeowners in need by engaging volunteers from churches, businesses, social groups and individuals to do painting and repairs (major and minor)to make a home more livable.
Description:
The City of McKinney administers a home repair program for eligible low-to-moderate income homeowners; however, at times a homeowner may be unable to enter the program. In these instances, H.E.A.R.T.H. serves as community link, matching these homeowners with those willing and able to complete minor home repairs in one-day or weekend activity.
History:
H.E.A.R.T.H. was initiated four years ago at Volunteer McKinney Center's annual "Make A Difference Day" and to date, over 600 volunteer hours have been logged. Fifteen homes have received assistance, including the first all-volunteer reconstruction project in December 2007.
