CIS-(Press Elementary) mission is to help students achieve academically to become productive and contributing members of our communities.
Description:
Taking into account both the physical and emotional wellness of the child, CIS (Press Elementary) uses an individualized case-management approach to work with at-risk children. Services provided to children and their families by our professional staff include: Supportive Guidance: One-on-one and/or group services that address individualize students' needs. Areas of focus may include attendance, attitude and behavior, mentoring, peer mediation and violence-prevention groups. Educational Enhancement: Providing support in all educational areas as needed to encourage student achievement and success in their school experience. Health and Human Services: Services that promote the increase of health and hygiene and coordinate the delivery of social services such as medical and dental care, school supplies and clothing, and other basic needs assistance in conjunction with other community service providers. Activities may include: agency referrals; clothing; school supplies; food distribution; basic nutrition and hygiene classes; dental health care; eye exams and provision of glasses; sponsorship of health fairs and preventative screenings; and victims of crime assistance. Parental and Family Support: Providing services and activities that increase the participation of parents in their students' educational experience. Activities may include home visits; individual consultation and support; college information nights; parent appreciation events; and parenting-skills classes.
History:
Since 1985, Communities In Schools Dallas Region, Inc. (CISDR) has provided year-round, on-campus academic and social support services to more than 325,000 children in grades pre-K through 12 in Dallas, Collin and Ellis counties. Our staff of dedicated professionals are experts in providing comprehensive case managed services and bringing the community resources into schools to help at-risk students in a cost-effective way.
