Hendrick Scholarship Foundation seeks to give economically disadvantaged youth who have overcome significant adversities, the opportunity to obtain a college education and thereby equip themselves to change the trajectory of their lives. We seek to "level the playing field" for them by giving financial and emotional support through our program.

Description:
The Hendrick Scholarship Foundation provides:
*Multi-year renewable scholarships towards a 2 year and/or 4 year college degree.
*Assistance with understanding application processes for college admissions and financial aid.
*Ongoing continual involvement with our students by providing educational planning guidance.
*Monitoring of their academic progress towards their goals.
*Individual mentoring to provide emotional support.
*Assistance with locating resources to meet basic living needs.

We currently have 63 scholarship students in our program, attending various colleges and universities.

Currently, we serve students who graduated from Plano Independent School District however our vision is to expand our program to include students from Collin County.

History:
In 1991, a group of long-time Plano community leaders established the Hendrick Academy of Honor Foundation (“Hendrick”), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt foundation, as a tribute to Dr. H. Wayne Hendrick, the retiring superintendent of the Plano Independent School District. With 30 years of service, Dr. Hendrick was recognized for his long-term vision for scholastic excellence through high-quality education for all students.

The organization strives to reflect Dr. Hendrick’s character and legacy by giving hope and inspiring the community’s youth to live lives of honor, in spite of experiencing extraordinary adversity. Since 1991, over 200 students have been offered scholarships.

Other than the Executive Director, our efforts are carried out by volunteers.
