The Samaritan Inn is the only homeless shelter in Collin County. Our Mission is to provide transitional refuge for homeless individuals and families, primarily from Collin County, who desire self-sufficiency and to provide temporary emergency shelter to families and individuals in crisis.
History:
The Samaritan Inn was established in 1984 after community leaders joined together to address the issue of homelessness in Collin County. They formed a Board of Directors and incorporated the Collin County Care Center to administer programs and services to the Samaritan Inn.

Overall Experience

My wife and I were directly involved in remodeling three rooms of the new Inn prior to its opening.

In our continued desire to pass on the blessings that have come to us, I have just published a book titled, "Roses Amidst Thorns." This book reflects on my personal experiences and well as spiritual experiences over a twenty year period of poetry writing. My wife and I have determined that all net profits from this book will go to serve the poor, the homeless, and the infirm in Christian-based projects and programs in Collin County, Texas. Since the Samaritan Inn has a special place in our hearts, the Samaritan Inn fails into the catergory of "projects and programs" to receive benefits from the funds of this book. The cost for this charity driven book is $12.50, shipping is free on all orders over twenty-five dollars. Orders can be placed direct thru this link: http:www.lulu.com/texaspoet or on Amazon.com by placing my name or title of book into search mode.
Blessings to the Inn,

"If it were not for the blessings of my life could go I"

My wife, Linda Stewart Terry-Rigo and myself have just completed an approximate four month remodeling project of three rooms of the new Inn. We contracted the subcontractors for this work and overseen the "work". The major room being the central library of of the inn reflects hope and brightness to the future to all that see this room. Our feelings in accomplishing this project was that by making this interior (an interior that one would be proud to have in any home in an upscaled neighborhood), future residents would feel "uplifted" in entering and using this room each day. My wife and I are proud that we were rendered the blessings in being able to participate in this project.
Respectfully Rendered,
John J. Rigo
