MADD McKinney
MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. MADD is a 26 year old crime victim's rights and advocacy services agency. Prevention programs delivered to youth in the area schools are available in addition to working with area law enforcement. MADD is directly involved with public policy and education and works on laws to stop drunk driving.
Description:
Are you a caring, nurturing person? Volunteers are needed to provide support to victims of drunk driving collisions who contact our MADD office. Victim Advocates assist at support groups and attend court sessions with victims. This is the heart and soul of what MADD is all about – helping victims of drunk driving crashes. It is also about delivering safety and underage drinking prevention programs into the schools and building a Youth In Action team of area high school students, and working with law enforcement to keep our neighborhoods and roadways safe.
History:
For 26 years MADD had centered on crime victim's rights and advocacy services. It was founded by a mother who lost her daughter when a drunk driver hit her. Today MADD consists of 50% men where in the pass it was made up of mostly women. Prevention programs delivered to youth in the area schools,working with area law enforcement and new laws to stop drunk driving continue to be the priority of MADD.
