Become a volunteer with Children and Community Health Center which won the 2009 Volunteer McKinney Group Award for the caring and commitment of its volunteers. Assisted by office staff and translators, medical staff provide free healthcare to the uninsured indigent residents of McKinney and surrounding area. Basic health issues are treated which may include colds, allergies, asthma, high blood pressure, stomach illnesses, diabetes and other basic health needs. No invasive procedures are done at the clinic. Specialized diabetic clinics and GYN clinics are held every 6 weeks. Orientation and training are provided. Referrals for specialties are also needed for those conditions beyond the scope of CCHC. Besides a current medical license, a desire to help others is the only requirement.
