Individual and Group Counseling
Counseling sessions are an integral part of the Hope's Door program. Residential counseling is provided during the shelter stay, and the aftercare program offers a one-year safety net of continuing support and counseling. Case managers work with each resident to help her develop a safety plan to keep her and her children safe, and to establish a plan of action that will enable her to live independently away from the abuser.
Graduate interns assist the outreach program director in providing counseling service to domestic violence victims. Interns schedule and conduct client in-takes, complete in-take documentation, co-facilitate group support sessions, conducts plan of service reviews with clients, provides resources and referrals to clients and performs other tasks as needed.
The graduate intern must be dependable, possess strong organizational skills, and have good interpersonal skills. This individual should be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Shifts can be worked between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. 15-20 hours or more per week are required. Candidates who are able to commit to two semesters are a plus!
