The Battle for Myers Landing is a Civil War Re-enactment taking place on November 6,7, and 8 at Myers Park and Event Center. During these three days we are seeking living historians and others willing to demonstrate and speak about 19th century life.
Demonstrations—Volunteers are needed to demonstrate historic crafts and skills. Included are: • Spinning/weaving • Soapmaking • Candlemaking • Saddlemaking • Campfire cooking • Sewing Presenters—Presenters are needed on the following topics: • Mourning • Civil War Era Medicine • Civil War Etiquette • Battlefield Basics (what are basic tactics) • Cavalry Basics • Weaponry • The language of flags and/or fans
- Volunteers need to be comfortable around large groups of people and be at ease answering questions in a friendly and professional manner.
- Volunteers will need to be available for a two to four hour block between 8:15 – 5:00. There will be a short orientation at 8:30 and visitors will start arriving around 9:00.
