Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Locations: Oak Point Park Nature Preserve & Arbor Hills

Goal: Assist department in enhancing the experience of park guests and providing information about park conditions, amenities and overall appearances.

Duties: Walk trails at Oak Point and Arbor Hill, be visible to patrons answer questions about parks and trails, explain rules to guests and provide feedback to dept. personnel. Stewards will work alone during their shift.

Shifts: Stewards will work 2-3 hour shifts twice a week, hours are flexible. Weekend shifts are included.

Skills needed: Ability to walk or ride bike along designated trails, communicate clearly and professionally, engage in conversation with strangers and explain and enforce rules in a diplomatic and non-confrontational manner.

Knowledge needed: Knowledge of park and its features, local habitats and species, and park rules and guidelines.

Certification: First Aid and CPR certified preferred but not mandatory

Other requirements: Interview and background check required. Stewards must carry a cell phone while volunteering at the Parks.

Directions:
 Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, Plano's largest park, is an 800-acre park extending from Parker Road on the south to Chaparral Road on the north and from Spring Creek Parkway on the west to Los Rios Boulevard on the east. The park boasts 3.5 miles of concrete trails and 5 miles of soft surface trails located along Rowlett Creek. Nature trails are open from sunrise to sunset daily.
