| Last updated on August 26, 2009 |
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging has urgent needs for individual volunteers, couples or teams of two to advocate for residents in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Collin County. Volunteers are asked to make a one year commitment, are assigned to a home and asked to visit residents at lease once weekly. Free comprehensive training is provided. As volunteer Ombudsmen, you will serve as advocates for residents, connecting them to their broader communities, affirming their rights, and assisting them in resolving concerns. For more information, please contact Lisa Walker, Area Agency on Aging, NCTCOG, at 1-800-272-3921 extension 172 or E-mail Marty Mascari at AAAVolunteers@solbroadband.com for more information. We currently have needs in McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco, Celina and Wylie. Volunteers should be able to work objectively with resident and nursing home staff, be compassionate and love working with seniors, willing to advocate for residents, many who have no family. Be willing to make a one year commitment to spend two hours a week or more volunteering. This opportunity is sponsored by: North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging
