Overall Experience

My CASA experience has given me more than I'll ever be able to give it.
 |
I have volunteered for a lot of organizations in my life, but I have to put CASA of Collin County at the VERY top of my list. I have been a CASA Volunteer Advocate for CASA of Collin County for three months and I love it! After having my first case for a month, I accepted two more--I just can't get enough. True, some of "my children" have had really terrible things happen in their lives. However, these children are heroes-they continue to fight for their childhood and many overcome their past and go on to flourish in their new environments! That in and of itself is truly inspirational. They remind you of what is important in life. On top of this, the CASA of Collin County staff is TOP NOTCH. You truly feel appreciated-they know your name when you walk into the office, they call you to make sure your case is going OK and to see if you need someone to talk to, and they organize appreciation dinners and meetings where you can share your experiences and meet other CASA Volunteers. I recogize that CASA is not for every one. However, it is for me, and it has made me a better person. If you truly want to make a difference, this is the place for you. posted by swobocop on May 26, 2003 |
