Groundwork Elizabeth

Groundwork Elizabeth is a 501c3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to "change places, change lives". Groundwork's goal is success in sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment by developing community based partnerships which empower people, businesses, and organizations to promote environmental, economic, and social well being.

History:
Originally based in Merseyside, England in 1980, Groundwork sought to partner government, the private sector, and the community in the goal of improving lives through the improvement of the physical environment. In 1996 the National Park Service Rivers and Trails Assistance Program imported the idea to the U.S. There are over 50 Groundwork Trusts in the United Kingdom, and 15 here in the U.S. Groundwork Elizabeth is the only Trust in the State of New Jersey.
