Occupational Center Of Union County, Inc.
OCUC was established in 1959, the mission of the agency is to provide vocational rehabilitation and mental health services to residents with a disability living in the Greater Union County community.
Description:
OCUC provides a full range of services to support and develop opportunities for work and treatment. The Center does this in many ways from providing actual work opportunities in its contract packaging business and its supported employment program, and its job development/placement services. In addition, the Center's MH Partial Care program serves individuals with a history of mental illness. The program provides group and individual counseling, medication management, and group activities with a focus of maximizing the individual's recovery. Recently, the Center has developed a Transition program for older school students who need exposure to a vocational environment. The student is sponsored by their local school district. The Center currently provides services to over 350 Union County residents with disabilities.
History:
OCUC was established in 1959 by a group of community volunteers to address the unmet needs of citizens with disabilities. As a community based initiative, the Center has evolved into a unique organization and currently is headquartered in Roselle.
