Description:
In order to fulfill its mission, JFS offers a variety of services ON A NON-DISCRIMINATORY BASIS. Rewarding VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES permit volunteers to serve needy older adults to make significant quality improvements in their lives. Our training and supervision along with your 2 hours monthly can make a TREMENDOUS DIFFERENCE in others' lives. Other JFS services include a variety of counseling modes, workshops, responses to domestic violence, children and adolescent mental health initiatives, adoption aid, geriatric depression treatment, and referral services for seniors and their families.

History:
Jewish Family Service of MetroWest has its community origins dating back to Newark, New Jersey in 1861 when it was known as the Hebrew Benevolent and Orphan Asylum. Today JFS is a comprehensive social service agency, with office locations serving people on a NON-DISCRIMINATORY BASIS in Essex, Morris, Sussex, North Union and parts of Hudson Counties. JFS annually serves over 3,000 families comprising close to 10,000 people.
