Lambertville Volunteers Drum & Bugle Corps - New Jersey

This is an alumni drum & bugle corps, a performing arts organization that performs in local parades, stage shows and civic events.

Description:
Dubbed “small but mighty” by the Star Ledger newspaper, this group has entertained audiences throughout the tri-state area with our current repertoire of music and interactive entertainment, including such styles as: Traditional Marches, Big Band Era, Broadway, Latin and popular-style songs. Our 2009 music includes: Caravan, I Love Lucy, James Bond theme, Grand Old Flag, Late In the Evening, and Johnny One Note, among many others!

We are seeking new players to enhance our drum corps - performers, horn players, drummers, or anyone seeking to learn a new talent! Come on out and we will show you how! Most important is the desire to have FUN! That’s our motto!

The Volunteers offer a pressure-free drum corps experience for musicians and performers who still want to play challenging contemporary musical arrangements, and put on a quality performance, but are limited to the amount of time they can devote to rehearsals and performing. Consider becoming a part of one of America's oldest and most talented small corps! Check us out at www.lambertvillevolunteers.org.

History:
The Lambertville Volunteers Drum & Bugle Corps, the second oldest continuously performing drum corps in history (celebrating 78 years), has no plans for slowing down anytime soon! In fact, the New Year has brought about new management, and a corps that is marching to a brand new beat!

First organized in 1931, in the midst of the great depression, the Lambertville Volunteers maintained a brilliant history as a junior corps, while they were collectively sponsored by the Lambertville Fire Dept., the Lambertville VFW Post # 7921, and the Lambertville American Legion Post # 120.

In 1955, the Corps changed to a Senior Corps, and entered Field competition, and in 1958 and 1959, the Volunteers placed 2nd in State Championships.

In 1964, when the Lambertville Volunteers decided to no longer compete on the field, but rather to provide a more easygoing schedule in which the members could enjoy just a few parades, concerts and exhibitions, the “alternative drum corps” was born. In a sense, the Lambertville Volunteers defined a genre that would characterize the alumni drum corps. In 1975, the Lambertville Volunteers were one of the pioneer corps to introduce women into the ranks.
Currently in our 78th year of existence and still marching strong, The Lambertville Volunteers Drum & Bugle Corps is a talented group of amateur musicians that performs in parades, stage shows and local events!
