The Martin and Edith Stein Hospice mission is to provide state-of-the-art, end-of-life care, in a manner that respects the traditions, values and lifestyles of our patients. Our non-profit, Jewish faith-based hospice honors and supports our patients and their families throughout this difficult journey.

Description:
We are a spiritually based service supporting individuals and their families as the patient comes closer to dying from a terminal illness. We are an interdisciplinary team composed of a medical director, nurses, nurses aides, a chaplain, medical social worker and trained volunteers. We bring our caring support to the patient, where they are most comfortable, whether in their own private home, apartment, nursing home or assisted living residence. Our trained volunteers support the patients and families by becoming companions to the patients and support to the family. This can be as simple as sitting and holding hands with the patient or washing a sink full of dishes but the relationship that can develop is invaluable to the patient and family.

History:
Stein Hospice started 4 years ago in the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged on the grounds of the Wilf Campus in Somerset. Two years ago we established an office off campus, on Veronica Avenue, and take care of patients throughout Somerset and Middlesex counties, wherever they live. Our relationship with the Wilf Campus continues and we care for patients in the campus facilities: the Martin and Edith Stein Assisted Living Residence; the Lena and David T. Wilentz Independent Living apartments; the Regency Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
