The Center For Great Expectations

Located in the heart of Somerville, New Jersey, we are a 6-bed residential facility for homeless, pregnant women addicted to substances and adolescents referred through the Division of Youth and Family Services. We form a partnership with each resident that encourages and empowers positive personal change. It’s our goal to make sure each resident has the skills and support to help her rebuild her life and raise her child in a meaningful, productive, and satisfying way.

Our support sometimes follows our client after she leaves the safety and direct assistance of the residence. We are available to counsel and nurture her as she takes each step on the road to recovery and the reclamation of her life.

We are licensed through the NJ Department of Human Services, Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) and are a network provider for The Substance Abuse Initiative, part of the Department of Health and Senior Services.

History:
The Center for Great Expectations was founded in 1998. That first year we helped over 22 women and their 22 babies find a safe path into the world. Since then we have offered help and support to over 88 residents and their babies. This year, the Center helped welcome our very first twins!
