Rainbows New Jersey State Chapter

Rainbows provides free, community-based peer support groups for children, teens, and their adult guardians after a significant family loss from death, separation, divorce, and abandonment.

Description:
Rainbows groups are offered in schools, churches, YMCA's, and social service agencies across New Jersey. In Union County, Rainbows is offered in some of the public schools in Union, Elizabeth, and Roselle, and at three area community sites in Elizabeth, Westfield, and Cranford. Groups are available for children ages Kindergarten through 8th grade, for high schools teens, and their adult guardians. History:
Rainbows was started by Suzy Marta in 1983 in Chicago as a peer support group for children whose parents were going through a difficult divorce. In the 26 years since, Rainbows has developed seven levels of curriculum to include the needs of children who were suffering through a variety of losses including death, foster care, and abandonment. Since 1983 Rainbows has served over 2 million children and their families in 49 states, and 19 foreign countries.
