Agency Details:
ECLC Foundation
The ECLC of New Jersey network is composed of four distinct, highly respected, not-for-profit educational, vocational, social and recreational human service agencies. Currently we serve over 600 children and adults from 11 central and northern New Jersey counties. All of our clients have moderate to severe developmental disabilities, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder, cognitive impairments and/or communication disorders. Their disabilities know no racial, religious or economic boundaries. Most of their disabilities were diagnosed at birth and will present them with challenges all their lives. Our mission is to empower and enable the individuals we serve to achieve their maximum potential and enhance their quality of life.
Description:
Our programs include:
- ECLC of New Jersey, which operates two state-approved private schools, one in Chatham and one in HoHoKus, providing special education and services for close to 350 children and young people, ages 5-21.
- Community Personnel Services (CPS), our supported employment program, which provides transitional and employment services to 182 ECLC senior school students, ECLC alumni and other individuals with developmental disabilities.
- The ECLC Foundation, which raises money as needed for the ECLC schools and CPS, as well as operating and funding After-School and Weekend Recreational and Social Programs for ECLC students and alumni. The Foundation also provides funding to support our newest and the fourth organization in our ‘family’, the PRIDE Program.
- ECLC’s PRIDE Day Program (Promoting Responsibility, Independence, Decision-making, and Employability, which is our adult day activity program for our alumni who are not currently a candidate for supported employment and are in need of continued education, training and day time activities and opportunities.
History:
ECLC was established in 1970 as a pre-school program serving a small group of learning disabled children. Our organization has grown over the years, and now offers special education and a continuum of services to special needs children and adults throughout central and northern NJ.
