Hospice is a medically directed program of care for the terminally ill. The Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care is a free-standing, non profit organization that provides physical, emotional, and spiritual care to terminally ill individuals and their families. Care is delivered without regard to age, race, religious affiliation, or ability to pay. The Center for Hope provides family and loved ones with the opportunity to discover and embrace the gift of life as they journey through loss.

Description:
The Center for Hope Hospice serves patients and their families in their own homes, in hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and our free standing assisted living/ hospice houses. Our Volunteer Program is one of vitality, dedication and the opportunity to meet new and interesting challenges. The variety of service programs offered allow each volunteer to select there own area of interest.
Volunteers are needed in towns throughout Union County; at Assisted Living/Hospice Facilities, Nursing Homes, Grief & Bereavement Center, etc. Areas include:

1. Patient/Family Care Volunteers
2. Bereavement Volunteers/Children’s Bereavement Camp
3. Spiritual Volunteers
4. Bilingual Volunteers
5. Office, clerical help
6. Fundraising
7. Drivers
   
   



History:
As one of the first hospices in New Jersey,the Center For Hope Hospice & Palliative Care was founded in the late 1970's by the late Peggy Coloney, R.N., and the late Father Charles Hudson, M.A. The hospice team includes a doctor, nurse, social worker, spiritual counselor, home health aide, volunteers and grief support counselors.
