Cerebral Palsy Association of Middlesex County

The Cerebral Palsy Association of Middlesex County is dedicated to the provision of comprehensive, superior, multi-faceted programs of service to individuals with developmental and related disabilities regardless of race, gender, creed, economic status or age. To this end the Association shall:

offer programs to enrich the lives and enhance the development of each infant, child and adult with developmental and related disabilities to enable each individual to achieve full potential;

provide, as early as possible, evaluation, identification, diagnosis and treatment to infants, children and adults so that the number and severity of handicaps can be significantly reduced;

foster dignity, independence and purposefulness to all who enter into the programs of the Association;

maintain the community's trust and confidence in the work of the Association.

Description:
The Cerebral Palsy Association of Middlesex County has achieved a reputation second to none in New Jersey regarding comprehensive services to infants, children and adults with disabilities. This reputation has been earned through the hard work and dedication of both volunteers and staff alike. Through this commitment a remarkable amount of program "Firsts" have been attributed to the Association.

The first medical program in Middlesex County for children with cerebral palsy.

The first special education classes in Middlesex County for children with cerebral palsy and orthopedic disabilities.

The first private/public joint venture between a private school and Board of Education providing special education classes. First with the Perth Amboy Board of Education.

The first work activity training center in New Jersey for adults with cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.

The first early intervention program for babies birth to age three in the State of New Jersey. One of five early intervention centers in the Nation.

The first Non-Vocal Augumentative Communication Evaluation Center in New Jersey for children with speech and communication disabilities.

The first group home in New Jersey for adults with cerebral palsy.

The first Seating and Adaptive Equipment and Enabling Technology Center in central Jersey for children and adults with disabilities.

The first medical model group home in New Jersey for adults with serious medical needs.

The first special needs adult training center in central Jersey for adults with severe medical and physical needs.

The first Toy and Computer Library in New Jersey for children with disabilities.

The first supervised apartments for persons with physical disabilities.
