Provide an innovative long-term residential halfway house treatment program for adult males who are recovering from alcohol and drug addiction, and who are at high risk of relapse without further treatment. Provide transitional housing for recovering alcohol and drug addicted women and their children, and to supplement and enhance services already in existence. Further, Freedom House's mission is to identify key decision makers in target communities and provide technical expertise and value added services to build long-term alliances and to develop product and service offerings to maximize opportunities in all communities.

Description:
Freedom House is a no-nonsense, highly structured, highly disciplined program. Residents are taught job search skills and assisted in finding employment. Once working, they must budget all their income. They are required to pay 1/2 of their net income as an investment in their treatment and save 1/3 for adequate funding toward independent housing after treatment. The remainder must be used to pay child support, fines and daily living expenses. Ninety-six percent (96%) are unemployed upon entering but 100% are employed upon graduation. By investing in their own treatment, they have a stake in their own recovery. They also allow limited funds to be stretched a little further to help the next man. Residents are required to adhere to the house schedule at all times, and special privileges such as a weekend pass or a single-man room must be earned.

Freedom House has become not only a national model but an international model for halfway house programming.
