Anderson House, Inc.

Anderson House, Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (C) (3) organization. Anderson House is a residential program for women recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction. Dedicated to providing quality treatment, Anderson House supports women as they develop the necessary goals and life skills to return to the community as responsible, productive individuals.

Description:
Based on the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Anderson House program integrates a variety of treatment methods to help women shed old behavior patterns and adopt new healthy, responsible ones. Residents are provided with shelter, food and transportation and receive individual, group and family counseling, life skills education and case management in a structured and caring environment. Clients stay at Anderson House for a minimum of six months. The vast majority of residents are homeless and indigent. While here, women work in the community and contribute a portion of their earnings toward the cost of their treatment.

History:
Opened in February 1995 with a capacity of five residents, Anderson House expanded its halfway house facility in 1999 to accommodate 14 residents. In 1998, a nearby house was acquired for use as a "three quarter", transitional residence for Anderson House graduates, providing safe and affordable housing and continuing care as they transition to fully independent living. Anderson House currently operates a second transitional residence in Flemington, NJ.
