Teddy Bear Den
Logo

The Teddy Bear Den provides referrals, education and incentives to limited income pregnant women, new parents and their families. Specifically, we target those who are disadvantaged or "at risk" of having poor pregnancy outcomes. Our mission is to promote healthier pregnancies, healthier babies and healthier families in our community.

Description:
Teddy Bear Den volunteers are the strength behind our program-they provide the listening ear, the kind words and the hands to hold the little ones. Becoming a Den volunteer means working hands on with the 801 women registered in our program. We ask our volunteers to dedicate two hours a month assisting our participants with registration, selecting new baby items in our store, making referrals to community resources and playing with a participant’s baby while she shops. A participant’s "Teddy Credits" or points are earned by seeking a healthy lifestyle. These “Teddy Credits” are then redeemed at the Den for new baby items such as diapers, sleepers, clothing, and infant necessities throughout the time they are registered with our program.

History:
The Sioux Falls community has supported the Teddy Bear Den since June of 1996. Since our opening we have served over 5500 area women providing them with new baby items in exchange for their healthy lifestyle. We currently have 801 limited income pregnant women enrolled in our program, the largest enrollment we have seen in 13 1/2 years.
