Sertoma Butterfly House

The Sertoma Butterfly House is a neo-tropical exhibit of 900 or more free-flying butterflies cruising around the "Flight Room." Butterflies are purchased bi-weekly from butterfly farmers from around the world. A special window show-cases our new arrivals as they await emergence. The "flight room" contains a 5 foot waterfall and a Koi pond with a fountain.

Description:
The Sertoma Butterfly House is a service project of the Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club. The Sertoma Club is an international non-profit organization dedicated to service to mankind. Their fund-raising efforts, including the profits from the Sertoma Butterfly House, support local charities.

History:
The completion of the Sertoma Butterfly House in January 2003 is actually the last phase in a series of projects to enhance the Sertoma Park. The park shares space with the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks and its facility, The Outdoor Campus; the Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation Department and its bike trails, large picnic pavilion and four playgrounds and restroom.
