The mission of The Center For Active Generations is to promote positive aging for older adults and th enhance the quality of life for all generations through programs, services and education.

Description:
The Center For Active Generations provides services for older and active adults through three distinct programs.
#1. Nutrition: The adult nutrition program serves nutritious noon meals week days in communities throughout southeastern South Dakota. Meals are served in group dining sites to promote socialization with others or delivered by volunteers to homebound individuals unable to prepare a meal themselves, known as Meals on Wheels. Anyone 60 years and older is eligible.
#2. Daybreak-Adult Day Care: Daybreak is an adult day program targeted for families looking for a safe homelike environment for their loved one. Daybreak offers a supervised protective enviroment with top-quality health monitoring as well as a dedicated profesional staff. Assistance for personal care needs is available. Participants can enjoy a day full of many activities, some which include; daily exercise, discussion groups, educational programs, hobbies and special interest programs.
#3 Recreation & Leisure Programs: Membership at the Center For Active Generations is open to adults over 18 years of age. The Center is open 6 days a week for members to participate in a wide variety of programs which include: a fully equipped exercise room, fitness & wellness classes, art classes, SeniorNet Computer Learning Center, card cluds, educational clubs - over a dozen special interest clubs, one-day trips, social events and much more.

History:
Senior Citizen Services, Inc. was created in 1967. It began with the Meals on Wheels programs and gradually developed into a full-service senior center. In 1997, through the efforts of a capital campaign the Center For Active Generations was built at our current location. In 2003 the Center added on to our current building. We now have over 3,200 members and offer the above services.
