Mountain Of The Bird
Although Fauna Rescue focuses primarily on the avian community, we work with other animal groups to provide a larger network of resources and referral services such as:
- Helping groups transport animals from shelters to permanent homes
- Arranging for another rescue group to save a pet goat from slaughter in Texas
- Providing veterinary care for a cat that was attacked by dogs and lost her leg
- Saving a ten year-old dog from euthanasia because his owners were moving
- Coordinating a 1500 mile transport for a dog that was surrendered to a high-kill shelter because his owner was deployed to Iraq
Description:
In March 2003, Fauna opened an office at 48 Bridge Street in Nashua. This office is the operating center for our volunteers. A 2000 square foot facility was rented in November 2005. The birds finally moved in to their first "official" facility in January 2006.
History:
In 1996, Linda Wisner founded Fauna Rescue to help protect companion parrots by providing a refuse for homeless parrots. Fauna Rescue is currently caring for over 45 birds. Only a small percentage of these birds are place able, and the rest are permanent residents that need a permanent sanctuary.
