The mission of the Red Cross is to provide for, prepare for, and respond to those directly affected by disasters with the help of our volunteers. We are currently focusing on building our volunteer program by creating sustainability and career building service opportunities. Description:
We are the Granite Chapter of the American Red Cross. Our fundamental principles are Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary service, Universality, and Unity. At the Granite Chapter volunteers can get involved in a plethora of activities such as Disaster Services, Health and Safety, PR and Community Outreach, Blood Services, Office Support, and Military Support.
History:
The Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton in 1881. In 1905 the federal government gave the Red Cross a charter to provide for those in need both domestically and internationally. The Granite Chapter was given a charter in 1917. In 2006 & 2007 the Granite Chapter consolidated with other chapters in Northern New Hampshire to include the territories of Bow to the Canadian border.
