Emerge Family Advocates
Emerge Family Advocates seeks to help families function in a healthy way, primarily by providing the safe and neutral settings and services that help children exercise their right to the best possible relationship with both parents.
Description:
Emerge Family Advocates' primary function is to eliminate parental confrontations and conflicts from parent-child contact and to disrupt the cycle of abuse and violence. Emerge does this by providing supervised visitation, supervised exchanges of children from one parent to the other, and by providing parental support and education services to families in need. Typically, parents are ordered by the court to engage in services with Emerge Family Advocates or one of the other professional supervised visitation centers in NH.
History:
Emerge was started in 1996, as a result of a several year long Windsor County study on supervised visitation. Each year, Emerge has continued to serve increasing numbers of children and families in need. Last year alone, Emerge served over 120 families throughout VT, NH and beyond. In 2009, Emerge opened satellite sites for visitation in Plymouth, NH and Bellows Falls, VT.
