Agency Details:
Tidewater School, A Waldorf Approach To Education
Unique in the Seacoast area, Tidewater School is a private school, offering a Waldorf approach for PreK through 8th grade in a warm and nurturing environment. With a Waldorf approach, a child at Tidewater School is taught "from the inside out," resulting in confident and accomplished students-ready for life.
Description:
Tidewater School is experiential and active. From playing music with strings and woodwinds, form drawing, intricate handwork, eurythmy, movement and painting to creative mathematics, writing and speaking a foreign language, it is an education that is engaging and heartfelt. The Waldorf curriculum integrates all the standard academic subjects with extensive treatment of science and humanities and integration of moral principles as well as physical skills.
History:
In 1999, a small group of local teachers, interested parents and community members founded Tidewater School with the goal of creating a place where education could promote the full and healthy development of each child's potential. Recognizing a gap in the offerings of other schools, both public and private, these concerned and determined founders sought to educate their children's heads, hands and hearts intellectually and artistically, physically and spiritually, culturally and socially.
