Help Support Military Youth During Deployment

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on December 31, 2008

The New Hampshire National Guard has service members currently deployed in support of the Global War on Terror. During the deployment the family members get together monthly to receive support and information. When the adults meet, the youth come together in meetings as well.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with general supervision of youth during these Family Readiness Group (FRG) meetings. The activities vary from month to month but will include activities to stay connected to their deployed parent, team building and coping skills activities as well as play time.

The meetings for this unit are held the Second Sunday of each month from 2-4pm at the State Military Reservation in Concord.

We are hoping to find volunteers that will agree to come each month for the duration of the deployment in order to give the youth consistency and help them build relationships.

Volunteers will be required to have a state background check and possibly a FBI Fingerprint Background Check (if you are a supervisory volunteer). To volunteer you must have no criminal record.
