Ice Storm 2008 clean up

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on January 15, 2009

Our camp in Wilton, NH received considerable damage to the white pine trees but with remarkable luck we only have minor damage to 2 buildings. To ensure that we have a safe and comfortable environment for the girls to camp and participate in outdoor activities we need to clean up the downed branches and limbs from all the trees. The property staff is looking for 12-15 volunteers to help haul and stack brush so that it may be chipped and the chips used at the camp.

The time frame for this opportunity will be mid to late April when the snow is gone and we have warmer temperatures. Most of the damaged trees are white pine so any volunteers would want to wear long sleeved shirts, gloves and clothing they wouldn't mind if pine pitch would get on. With a group of 12-15 people we would provide a lunch for them.

This opportunity is sponsored by: Girl Scouts of Swift Water Council - Lakes Region

We need volunteers who are free at these times
