Families in Transition is a local non profit that helps families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by providing affordable housing and comprehensive social services. We have just come up with a new program called "Socially FIT" that helps our participants explore new ways to connect with each other and the community. It is an opportunity for volunteers to help support them by providing opportunities for gatherings. It can be a one time occasion or monthly or twice a year, whatever you can do. Some examples might be pot luck dinners, pizza parties, ice cream socials, game nights, knitting circles…. Gather some friends and family members, your book club or craft group and come over and spend a few hours sharing your knowledge and helping others gain valuable social skills and confidence to explore the world beyond their doors!
