The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. It's message is based on the Bible. It's ministry is motivated by the love of God. It's mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Description:
The Salvation Army provides material assistance on an emergence basis. The service we provide include:
- ) A Soup Kitchen and emergency food pantry.
- ) "Homework Helps" which provides assistance with homework assignments to latch-key students.
- ) Visiting patients in hospitals and nursing homes.
- ) Alcohol and Drug addicted clients are referred into a detox facillity, and then enrolled in a long-term Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC)
- ) Holiday assistance is provided to families through our "Angel Tree" program
Other services we provide include: Overnight Camp, Missing Persons Bureau, Home League, "Yam" Youth Arts Ministry, Disaster Relief, Emergency management.
History:
The Salvation Army has served Union County for more than 100 years, and is part of an international religious and charitable movement and branch of the Christian church. We are motivated by the love of God with a practical concern for the needs of mankind.
