Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on December 9, 2008

The Department of Information and Communication Services is responsible for the planning, collection and dissemination of information and statistics at all levels of the Auxiliary through supervision and direction of AUXDATA, a centralized database information system, AUXINFO, a reports retrieval system, and through supervision and support of the Auxiliary National Internet web sites and other electronic media. For the Auxiliary, web pages and e-mail communications offer a special potential, not only to communicate internal needs and abilities throughout the Coast Guard family, but also for communications to the boating public. The Auxiliary maintains an official website at www.cgaux.org . Both public and member information are available on this site.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 17 years old, and pass a basic background check. There are no upper age limits or height/weight standards, although for operational activities, you must be physically able to perform certain tasks. There are no minimum service hours – you can serve as little or as much as you want.
You do not have to own a boat or participate in water-based operations to join the Auxiliary.
