Volunteer Opportunity Details:

The YWCA of Eastern Union County is currently recruiting volunteers to participate and complete the mandatory 40-hour training beginning in September 2009. Of special need are volunteers that can provide the following:

1. ) Support, information, and referral to callers via the 24-hour confidential hotline
   
   
2. ) Assistance to victims at local police departments throughout Union County via the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). Volunteers in this capacity are called upon by the local police in their area, and respond to the police department to meet with a victim to provide information, options, emotional support, and referrals.
   
   
3. ) Childcare so that moms can attend important services, such as court, social service appointments, and individual and group counseling.
   
   
4. ) Volunteer advocates to work in our Legal/Court Advocacy department to assist victims of domestic violence in providing support, information, and referrals regarding restraining orders and other services.
   
   

A 40-hour training is mandatory; twice per week in the evenings beginning in September. Completion of the training qualifies volunteers to provide direct services to survivors and their loved ones. Bilingual a plus!
