Basic Literacy Tutor - Teach an adult to read
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Basic Literacy Volunteers teach basic literacy skills to an adult who reads below 5th grade level. Our tutors work throughout Morris County, and tutors are matched with a student based upon their schedule, geographical requirements and interests. A commitment of one hour per week is required. Meetings take place in a public place, such as a library in your community. Volunteers must be over 18, high school graduates, fluent in English, and must complete LVMC's training workshop which is offered several times during the year.For further information and the dates of the next training, please call the LVMC office at 973 984-1998. The next training session will be held on July 13 and 20, 2009 at the Morris County Library, beginning at 9:30am and ending at 3:30pm each day. The library is located at 30 East Hanover Avenue, Whippany.
