Make Connections with Youth
Volunteer Opportunity Details:
Volunteers are needed to provide mentoring services to youth ages 5 through 17 years of age who present with isolative and withdrawn behaviors, academic failure, legal involvement, abuse and/or neglect, and/or who are going through difficult life events and need additional support and guidance. Volunteer mentors are recruited, screened and matched with a youth through the program. The mentor will provide weekly mentoring sessions that work toward goals of increasing the coping skills and resources of the youth so that he or she can more effectively work through the obstacles they face. The mentors will receive weekly support from the program during the first month of the match. Support is given on an as needed basis, but occurs minimally once to two times per month. Mentor trainings occur on a quarterly basis and program sponsored activities on a monthly basis. The mentor is expected to meet with the youth once a week for an average of three to five hours. This opportunity is sponsored by: Catholic Charities DOM
