Salvation Army Christmas Kettles – Be a Bell Ringer!
You see them every year: the faithful Salvation Army bell-ringers reminding us to care for poor and homeless. This year, come volunteer as one of those bell-ringers and help pull our community together to help those in need around us. Through giving your time to the The Salvation Army Kettle Campaign, you'll be raising money to feed, house and care for the less fortunate families in our community.
History: The first kettle was introduced by Captain Joseph McFee in the
early 1890's on the San Francisco water front. Since then the kettles
have become an indispensable part of the holiday season. In reverence
to the original desire and plan of Captain Mcfee, the Salvation Army
is turning back the clock and assembling an all-volunteer Red Kettle staff.
Volunteers are needed in Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Lakewood and Spanaway. The volunteers' experience and abilities will meet basic human needs. The Red Kettle Drive will be held November 23 - December 24. Scheduling is flexible although it is preferred that volunteers have shifts of four hours. The Kettles are in the communities for eight hours at a time Monday - Friday (11am-7pm) and Saturday (9:30am-5:30pm). For further information please contact Tony Warren Antony.Warren@usw.salvationarmy.org or (253)572-8452 ext.128.
